Rapunzel returns to the kingdom of Corona only to find that it has been taken over by an old enemy with the help of Andrew and the Separatists of the realm of Saporia. Still reeling from Cassandra’s betrayal and newfound Moonstone-empowered strength, the barefoot princess must use her innermost strength to save all of Corona and that of the entire world. Sticking by her side is her boyfriend and partner in life, Eugene; her loyal chameleon sidekick, Pascal; no-nonsense and dutiful stallion, Maximus; Eugene’s best childhood friend, Lance Strongbow, a redeemed Varian and two former thieves, Angry and Red's real names are revealed to be Kiera and Catalina.

Eventually, Princess Rapunzel uncovers the mystery of her hair's return and its connection to the black rock spikes growing exponentially around both Old and New Corona, with the help of her handmaiden and best female friend Cassandra, and young quirky alchemist Varian.
