Tác phẩm phim điện ảnh này được chuyển thể từ tiểu thuyết kỳ ảo có liên quan đến Hồ tộc. Tác phẩm kể về câu chuyện về ngàn năm trước, một câu bé vì cứu con hồ ly nhỏ mà gặp nạn. Một ngàn năm sau, có chàng thư sinh vào kinh thành để ứng thí, trên đường gặp được con hồ ly trắng trải qua ngàn năm tu luyện và nói với cậu: “Năm xưa anh đã từng cứu tôi một đoạn đường, bây giờ tôi sẽ bảo vệ cho anh cả đời”. Và cũng từ đó cuộc đợi chàng thư sinh kia bước vào một con đường mới kì lạ khác.
The Outside Chance of Maximilian Glick
The early 1960s: In preparation for his Bar Mitzvah, a Jewish boy, Max Glick (Noam Zylberman) from a small Manitoba community with an overbearing family tries to navigate his coming-of-age with his family's condescension and bigotry using his sarcastic, Jewish humour. The town's rabbi dies, and a sub-plot develops in which Max's father (Aaron Schwartz) and grandfather (Jan Rubes)-both synagogue leaders-are saddled with a traditional Hassidic rabbi who sticks out like a sore thumb among the otherwise assimilated Jewish community. To make matters more difficult, Max likes a Catholic girl (14 year old Fairuza Baulk in just her third film), whom he later competes with in a piano competition. The quirky, fun-loving rabbi tries to help him with his problems, yet harbours a secret ambition of his own. Filmed in Winnipeg and rural Beausejour, Manitoba, Canada.
Saito Dosan: Rage of Power
During the age of warring clans (Sengoku Jidai), many samurai lords sought to unite the country under their banners by becoming the supreme leader. One of the first to vie for power in this way was Saito Dosan, the 'Viper'. His son-in-law, Oda Nobunaga, did in fact unite the nation after subduing all of his enemies, yet falling at last to the treachery of one of his most trusted generals. This story is a pre-cursor to those later events as the brilliant military strategist Saito Dosan rises to power and notoriety as a great lord in his own right. Directed by Kudo Eiichi and with a tremendous supporting cast that includes Nakamura Toru as Oda Nobunaga and Chiba Shinichi as Akechi Mitsutsugu, battle scenes of awesome power and a unique view of Japanese history, this is a marvelous production highlighted by the action scenes done by the Japan Action Club (JAC).
