Renée Fleming is Countess Madeleine, the beautiful, enigmatic woman at the center of Strauss’s sophisticated “Conversation Piece for Music.” She is being courted by two men: Joseph Kaiser sings the composer, Flamand, and Russell Braun is Olivier, the poet. The stellar cast also includes Peter Rose as the theater director La Roche, Sarah Connolly as the actress Clairon, and Morten Frank Larsen as the Countess’s brother. For Whom the Bell Rings
The industrialist Apostolos Lampirikos is drowning in debt. All were asking borrowed, but none of the return. From this predicament is to get him his employee, Costas, with a trick. Kostas proposed to his boss ... to "commit suicide". The Lampirikos, with a large stone tied around his neck, supposedly falls overboard and the truth Kostas him and sent a photo. their accomplices to fraud, wife of Apostle Flora and his daughter Alice. Slovakia, on the eve of the outbreak of World War II. The family of the young Jewish Martin Friedmann gathers to celebrate his bar mitzvah and make a solemn promise that they will all meet again a year later around the same table; but the storms of war and anti-Semitic fanaticism will lead each of them down very different paths.
