She not only studied ballet and was a gymnast for twelve years, but also attended college for two years. Steele worked as a computer programmer prior to starting out in the adult entertainment industry as a nude model and exotic dancer. Selena first began performing in explicit hardcore movies at age 27 in 1988. She took a brief hiatus from adult films in the mid-1990's, but eventually made a comeback playing MILF roles in hardcore movies in 2001. Moreover, Steele continued to work as an exotic dancer at the height of her porn career. Selena was inducted into the XRCO Hall of Fame in 2003 and the AVN Hall of Fame in 2007. She retired from the adult film industry in 2008.
